Introduction to Probability Theory and Statistics

STAT101 covers descriptive statistics, probability, probability distributions, sampling, and estimation, using tables, graphs, and spreadsheet tools to analyze real-world data.

Course Code STAT101
Credit Hours 3
Prerequisite MATH002

This is the first course in statistics. It focuses on summarizing and presenting data with tables and graphs; calculating measures of center, location, and dispersion; applying probability rules and discrete and continuous probability distributions; and understanding sampling distributions and population-parameter estimation. Spreadsheet tools such as Excel are used where possible for real-world problem solving.
